Richard J. McCrea: The Bio of Danksta Lo

My name is Danksta Solo.  I was nicknamed Solo in 6th grade and ran with the original Danksta Klick in high school, so no name could fit me better.  As a freshman, I discovered that freestylin’ was the hottest thing going.  I used to just sit and listen until one day I got the urge to jump in.  After that, I was flowin’ everyday and couldn’t get enough.  My senior year I enrolled in an audio engineering class in hopes of getting some studio time.  The man that taught the class would end up being one of the most influential forces in my life.  As long as we kept a B-average, took care of the equipment, and didn’t cuss, my homeboys and I were allowed free studio time everyday.  I learned how to run a studio and sharpened my engineering skills while I recorded my first 35 songs.

After graduating, I worked with various local artists in numerous studios around Denver.  My cousin Tre Scoops and I began to collaborate on music projects and formed our own production company Eway Music in 1999.  That year we released a maxi-single that sold quickly on the streets.  The next year Mr. Noze (a local artist quickly gaining infamy) recruited me to produce and perform on a single for his album “Nobody Knowz.”  In 2001, Eway Music released our 2nd successful street single “Me and My Niggas,” followed by a full-length album Colo-Riders that I professionally produced, engineered, and mastered by myself.   In 2002 I also produced, engineered, and mastered an album for local artist 777 under the Eway name.  Eway Music was then dissolved and I now run my own music production studio.

In addition to creating my own music, I lend my production and engineering skills to several other artists.  I have all the necessary equipment and skills to produce an excellent quality sound.  I write lyrics and create beats as often as possible because music is my life and my sanity.  I listen to, and am influenced by, all types of music – which is apparent when you hear my style.  My favorites include jazz, classic rock, punk, and rap.

This year big things have started to happen.  I am working with my long-time friend MDz of Bowa Music, and with the Floss City crew.  I have performed with them in countless shows, and on the “Big Bodyz (remix)” released by Bowa Music.  Later this year I plan to put out several new singles from my unreleased first solo album.  I have spent a lot of time promoting and networking in cities across the U.S. and have heard the different sounds coming from each.  None is quite what you will find here in Denver, Colorado.  There is unimaginable talent here just waiting to be exposed.  I am a Colo-Rider and I keep it coming hotter…  I am here to bring you new sounds and show you how we do it!
